On the representation-free formalism in quantum mechanics

The widespread bra-ket formalism provides helpful means to carry out representation-free considerations in quantum theory. However, drawbacks are inherent in it. We discuss these drawbacks in detail and then construct a new representation-free scheme. Similar to the bra-ket formalism, the present scheme provides needed means to facilitate representation-free considerations. At the same time, the present formulation is entirely free of the drawbacks of the bra-ket formalism. In contrast to the bra-ket, dual-space, formalism, the present scheme allows both the one-space and dual-space interpretations, which is a helpful property. The constructed universal scheme is very suitable for performing representation-free practical calculations.
